As we look toward June, restrictions for schools in Alabama (and in the Birmingham area) remain unchanged so we are unable to offer our June sessions. We had delayed making this decision as we had hoped we could see the students however, with guidance and mandates from The Alabama Department of Education, the CDC and the Alabama Department of Public Health, we are simply not able to offer in person instruction until July.
While Governor Kay Ivey recently eased restrictions on small business and in-person gatherings, her order didn’t change previous guidance that had been issued by State Superintendent Eric Mackey regarding a phased approach to reopening schools for academic and in-person instruction. That previous guidance, which was issued on May 2nd, stated that children under the age of 12 could not return to school campuses until July 6. Even with the Governor’s recent ease of restrictions, this section remains unchanged.
We still intend to open for our 3 week “Montessori Reboot” Summer Experience July 13th-July 31st that will be complimentary for all students registered for the 2019-2020 school. We also continue to anticipate a regular start to our 2020-2021 school year in August.
